Although the Hiker Trailer Highway Deluxe might look very similar to the Small Fry, it is an entirely different beast. While the Small Fry took minimalism to the extreme, the Highway Deluxe puts a lot of stake in providing compact convenience at an even smaller price. Like the Small Fry, the Hiker has a squared-off profile to save on cost and manufacturing complexity. However, the layout is much more traditional. The Highway Deluxe has a modern shape, but the layout is a classic teardrop with a rear kitchen, side entry, and a slightly sloped front for aerodynamics. It’s a simple approach, but effective. Further, this is one of the cheapest ready-made teardrops on the market, costing as little as $6000 for their basic model. One of the ways that Hiker achieved this value is by eliminating a lot of extraneous “stuff.” The kitchen in this trailer can be optioned with a sink, but there is no stove or fridge.

How is it so light?

The Forest River R-Pod series is a somewhat quirky lineup. I’ve heard them referred to as the “Saabs of the camper world”, and I find that description rather apt. Although their exterior design is unique, a bunkhouse layout was always notably absent from their lineup. That changed recently with the addition of the RP193. This floorplan solves a problem that is very often neglected by designers. In many bunkhouse campers, you can sleep many more people than you can entertain.

Featuring a murphy bed, twin bunks, and wet bath, the R-Pod finally addresses this problem that has plagued the ultra lite travel trailer genre for years!

Living Space Surprise

The basic layout of the RP193 is fairly standard. In fact, it is almost identical to the KZ Sportsmen 191BH mentioned above. Bunk beds and bathroom in the back, queen sized bed up front, single slide… you know the drill.

However, the RP193 makes one very important tweak. Rather than the front bed being fixed in place, and thus useless for the majority of the day, Forest River made the front bed a hinged murphy-style bed that flips up to reveal a sofa.

Unlike the RP193, Forest River wasn’t shy about making a larger trailer. At twenty-five feet long and just over 5,000 pounds, the 25BRDS is the largest trailer in this lineup. However, it should still be towable by most family trucksters.

Floor Plans

The amount of space within this trailer’s confines is frankly staggering. The L-shaped kitchen is a unique touch and goes a long way towards making this unit feel more like home. The U-shaped dinette is a great choice as well, serving equally well in dining, sleeping, and lounging roles. The rear-positioned bunk beds are large, but unfortunately lack a shape named after a capital letter.

When it comes to diagnosing a flaky furnace, Occam’s razor normally applies: the simple solutions are often the most likely. Your furnace likely runs on propane, distributed from one or two tanks somewhere near the front of your RV. If you can hear your furnace running but no heat is being blown, it is very possible that you are simply out of propane.

How to Check Your Levels:

If you have a volt-meter or another way to check the voltage of your batteries, see how many volts they are maintaining. Travel Trailer Materials

The weight of a travel trailer is determined by its size and materials. Generally, trailers are constructed of either aluminum or fiberglass. Aluminum is the lighter of the two. We’ll discuss them more below.

Aluminum

Aluminum siding tends to be the lightest option for trailer construction. The framing of the unit also needs to be considered. Some higher-end trailers have both aluminum skins and aluminum framing, which is a very strong and light combination. On the lower end of the market are the trailers with aluminum skins but wooden framing. These are known as “sticks and tin” trailers.

While cheaper to construct, this construction method can also be more cumbersome.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass construction has advantages, including a sleeker appearance and increased resistance to wear. However, fiberglass can be heavy material. Compared to aluminum skinned and framed trailers, fiberglass construction tends to result in a weightier RV.

The lightest trailers and campers are going to be aluminum, but these will also be the most expensive option.

How Much Do Campers Weigh on Average?

The various makes, models, and types of RV’s are as diverse as the people who own them. Thus, it is difficult to pin down a solid average even if you narrow the spectrum to a specific class of RV.

Getting a rough idea of what a typical unit weighs can help show how different nits vary. Each specific nit is different, so always make sure to check your RV rather than trusting a list.

Class A

Class A’s are generally the largest motorhomes on the road, and as such, are the heaviest.

Smaller gasoline-powered Class A’s, which are often under thirty feet in length, weigh around 16,000 pounds. Many of the available coach-based Class A’s can be over twice this amount.

A Prevost or Monaco, for example, weighs around 35,000 pounds. This extra weight is due to their diesel engines, increased length, and stout construction. This amount of heft puts some of these units within range of a needing a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Class B

Of the motorized options, Class B’s are the lightest RV.

Because they are based on a full-sized van chassis and keep the body of the van, many Class B’s weigh little more than a large SUV.

Anyone who has stepped foot onto an RV lot will realize that travel trailers are available in seemingly any size.

Yet, Highland Ridge has resisted this urge with its Open Range Light Models. Their range contains high quality and thoughtfully constructed fifth-wheels with innovative floorplans.

The first advantage of any Highland Range product stems from its construction. The Open Range trailers are built using aluminum wall supports, meaning that rot or corrosion is not a concern. Further, numerous thoughtful touches are incorporated into the structure. For example, the roofs are arches to prevent leaks or water accumulation. The walls are laminated foam for increased strength and insulation.

There is a lot to like about the way Highland Ridge builds its trailers. The floorplans are excellent as well. They have not tried to reinvent the wheel. Of the six models they offer, each is spacious and efficient. The smallest of the bunch is a classic rear-living room 25-foot model.

My favorite is the second smallest, the LF280RKS.

Though still compact, this layout incorporates a U-shaped kitchen in the rear. This design affords more counter space but also gives the living area a more intimate feel. It is a successful design for such a small trailer.

Lastly, Highland Range stood by their claim of building an “ultra-lite” trailer. The smallest fifth-wheel in the lineup has a scant 7,400 lb UVW with a 1,2000 lb hitch weight. Even the largest of the bunch, a 30-foot bunkhouse model, weighs a mere 8,400 lbs.

For once, a company succeeded in making a true half-ton towable 5th wheel.

2. Scamp 19 5th Wheel

There is no point in beating around the bush. The Scamp 19 is an odd trailer.

Its unique design and philosophy stray so far that it becomes somewhat difficult to compare the Scamp to other units. Scamp has been building trailers since the mid-1980s, and the approach has not changed in that time. Every Scamp is made using two fiberglass castings that are bonded together. Imagine flipping a small boat upside down onto another boat and gluing them together.

There are a lot of advantages to this construction.

First, there are almost no seams in a Scamp. Thus, they are waterproof and durable.

Further, they are light. At a mere 2,500 lbs UVW and 400 lb hitch weight, the Scamp 19 5th wheel is not just half-ton towable; it is ¼-ton towable too.

What the Scamp is not, however, is luxurious. The interior of a Scamp 19 is largely exposed gel-coated fiberglass. Given the size and simplicity of the trailer, there are very few amenities. The kitchen is small, and a bathroom is not even standard equipment.

But focusing on what it lacks is missing the point. I like the Scamp 19. In a sea of gilded boxes, it is a refreshingly honest approach to RV design.

3. Rockwood Ultra Lite Fifth Wheel – 2441WS

In many cases, “light” is a polite word to describe a cheaply made RV. Finding a luxurious and well-made ultra-lite model often seems almost impossible.

But then Rockwood stepped into the game and realized the dream of a luxurious half-ton towable camper.

The specifications of the Rockwood Ultra Lite read like a much more expensive unit.

• Aluminum frame
• Vacuum bonded walls
• ⅝” tongue and groove sub-floor
• Alloy wheels
• Torsion axles
• Enclosed and insulated underbelly
• Heated holding tanks
• HVAC system is ducted and high-capacity

Typically, these features are limited to only the highest-end units. To see them in an Ultra-Lite 5th wheel is impressive.

Rockwood did not skimp on floorplans either. Twelve are available, and there are some gems among them.

Bunkhouse floorplans normally place the second bedroom at the rear of the coach. This tended to make the living room feel dark and cramped. To solve this, there has been a recent trend towards mid-ship bunkhouses. These layouts provide a much more residential feel and greater versatility. Rockwood’s 2896MB is an excellent example of the genre. The second bedroom is designed to function as a bedroom or a den and office. Thus, this is an incredible unit for couples that have occasional visitors.

Despite the quality build and innovative floorplans, the Rockwood Ultra Lite series stays svelte. The lightest model, the 2441WS, is only 7,300 lbs. Even the heaviest models are still well under 10,000 lbs.

4. Keystone Laredo Super Lite – 296SBH

Keystone has developed an impressive reputation for quality and value. Looking at the Laredo Super Lite, the source of the reputation is apparent. There are fifth-wheels on the market that seem good on paper but lack the careful design.

The Laredo excels by providing unparalleled attention to detail. For example, very few companies are installing frame-less windows in ultra-lite models. But the details make a big difference.

The floorplans are another big draw to the Laredo line. I cannot recall the last time I saw more distinct plans offered for one model. Some of them, like the 296SBH, are fantastic. This plans mid-ship second bedroom has a double bed and an impressively residential feel. The 342RD is another favorite of mine. This model has three rear sofas creating a beautiful lounge area, distinct from the kitchen. It creates the illusion of a spacious rig.

Some of the floorplans are less successful. The 284SBH, with its hidden pantry and sideways double bunkbeds, is an acquired taste.

Generally, the Laredo Ultra-Lite lives up to its name. The lightest model is a highly towable 7,400 lbs. However, the larger models start to develop more considerable mass. The largest of the range, the 380MB, is almost 13,000 lbs with a significant 2,200 lb hitch weight.

Just because a unit is marketed as an ultra-lite does not mean you can tow it with your half ton pickup.

Conclusion

It is a fantastic time to be shopping for a half ton towable 5th wheel. For the past decade, it seemed as if the market for a light-weight unit had been abandoned. Thankfully, manufacturers have realized the demand and responded with some spectacular models. Towing a fifth-wheel with a 1/2 ton truck can be a great means to a practical setup. Livin Lite developed a reputation for producing some of the highest quality campers ever produced. By combining a welded aluminum frame with laminated composite panels, Livin Lite made a trailer that was not only light, but completely immune to rot, rust, and leaking. They were never the cheapest option on the market, but they are a camper that could last you a lifetime.

While they made a large variety of fifth wheel options, the 32 RLS is one of the most sought-after. Despite its relatively long 32-foot length, this spacious fifth wheel weighs only 7,500 pounds. It is very rare to see a fifth wheel this size be truly half-ton towable, but the unique construction method makes this feat possible.

Livin Lites are certainly some of the most durable campers available, but they admittedly lack some of the glamour of standard premium models. The interiors are beautifully made and attractive, but they are not as ornate as one might expect. Their designs can best be described as “understated elegance.” That said, if quality is your primary motivator, look no further.

4. Rockwood Ultra-Lite

Rockwood is the bread and butter of the Forest River lineup, and they offer a staggering amount of variety within the range. Everything from soft-sided pop-ups to high-range luxury fifth wheels are sold under the Rockwood nameplate. Within this spectrum, the Rockwood Ultra-Lite range of fifth wheels is fairly new. As the name would suggest, the Rockwood Ultra-Lite’s goal is to provide the same luxury as the other Rockwood fifth wheels while also creating a more approachable and easier to tow coach. By all accounts, they succeeded.

For this list, the most interesting model in the Rockwood Ultra-Lite range is also the smallest: the 2442BS. At only 28-feet, this is one of the shortest full-height fifth wheels available. However, it still has a lot to offer. Many smaller fifth wheels sacrifice bedroom and bathroom space to fit a larger living room. Yet, for a traveling couple, having a massive entertaining area is not normally a priority. Thus, the 2442BS shifts the focus to providing a larger bedroom and bathroom area. Given the target audience of this unit, that’s a move that makes a lot of sense.

The bedroom is certainly very large for a 28-foot unit, but that doesn’t mean the living room suffers significantly. With an L-shaped kitchen and full-size sofa, the living area is certainly on the cozier side but it is still a beautifully functional space. There’s even a sofa bed for the occasional guest. As a mobile suite, this unit functions magnificently.

Better yet, it also manages to be extremely light. At just over 8,000-pounds, this trailer is easily half-ton towable. If you want a lovely getaway for you and your significant other but don’t want to feel cramped at every turn, the Rockwood Ultra-Lite 2442DS should be near the top of your list.

6. Winnebago Micro Minnie

When you first approach a Winnebago Micro Minnie, it takes your brain a moment to adjust. We’ve become accustomed to fifth wheels being towering behemoths. Except for something niche like a Scamp, even the small fifth wheels are typically still quite large. However, the name is not the only thing about the Micro Minnie that doubles down on being small. Compared to almost every other fifth wheel on the market, the Micro Minnie range is shorter, narrower, less tall, and lighter. It’s like they took a full-size fifth wheel and copied it at 75%.

There are three floor plans in this range, and they are all similar lengths. Yet, the 2405BH deserves special attention. At 27-feet long and under 5,800 pounds, this is the second smallest fifth wheel on this list. Despite this, it manages to be among the most versatile. The floorplan is fairly simple, with a queen bed up front and a single slide for the dinette. The true brilliance of this model becomes apparent at bedtime. The sofa is rear-mounted and folds into a bed as you would expect. However, Winnebago also included a drop-down bunk bed above the sofa. Thus, at night, this trailer becomes an impromptu bunkhouse model. All within 27 feet!

The finishes of the Micro Minnies are simple, but we found the quality to be extremely acceptable. Ultimately, these aren’t designed to be luxurious condos. Rather, at around $34,000, they are easily towable and extremely affordable family-oriented units. They picked a goal and achieved it with flying colors.

8. Escape 5.0

Remember when I mentioned that the Scamp doesn’t have a lot of competition in its market segment? Well, that wasn’t entirely true. Escape is a relatively new manufacturer, but they have proudly continued the tradition of two-piece fiberglass “egg” style trailers. Competition is always healthy, and there are definitely some pluses and minuses when comparing the Escape 5.0 to the Scamp 19.

Given their similar construction, the Escape 5.0 has many of the same benefits as a Scamp. At 21-feet, it’s a tad longer, and at 3,900 pounds, it’s a bit heavier too. It’s an extremely strong design, though, and the two-piece construction is great for rigidity and avoiding leaks. If you like exploring some rougher roads with your camper, this is a great option. One key difference with the Escape is its two-axle design. While this is not a make-or-break issue in either direction, having a second axle is going to make the Escape more stable and easier to tow than the Scamp.

The interior is a bit of a mixed bag. Compared to the Scamp, the Escape feels a lot more modern and more luxurious. There is more wood and less exposed fiberglass, and many details seem a bit more elegant. However, the only available floorplan is a rear-dinette side-bath layout, much like a class-B motorhome. It is functional, but can also feel somewhat cramped. This is definitely a camper to live out of, not in.

Overall, the Escape is a very unique trailer that fulfills a niche well. However, it isn’t for everyone.

4. Keystone Hideout 179LHS

Camping on a budget shouldn’t have to mean cramming yourself into a claustrophobic box. While slide-outs have been available on smaller trailers for several years now, they have only recently made the jump to the ultra-affordable “stick and tin” units. Compared to the other units we’ve looked at, the Keystone Hideout 179LHS is not going to have the laundry list of features of many of the higher-end trailers, but that’s alright. The goal of the 179LHS is to provide an affordable and spacious camper in a compact footprint, and it achieves that goal admirably.

The layout of the 179LHS is simple but functional. There’s a compact rear bathroom, a dinette within the slide-out, and a nicely positioned queen bed in the front. The kitchen won’t be producing your next Michelin-starred meal, but it works perfectly fine for a hamburger or frying up some pancakes. The real benefits of this unit are space, weight, and price. The slideout is a particularly deep example, so this is sure to be one of the most spacious sub-20-foot trailers you come across. At sub-4,000-pounds, it’s towable by even mid-size SUVs. Finally, with an MSRP under $20,000, it’s approachable by almost any budget.

While the 18FQ discussed above may seek to maximize space, the Coleman 244BH maximizes pillows. Bunkhouse trailers are a wonderful option for large families or even couples that enjoy travelling with friends. Thankfully, needing a few more beds doesn’t mean you need a massive truck to haul your camper. The 244BH is a fairly traditional layout but with excellent execution and attention to detail. The rear bunkhouse uses double beds, offering the double benefit of either providing extra space for solo sleepers or the ability to sleep two on each level. Between the bunks, queen bed, and convertible dinette, this unit can sleep a total of eight people. All within a 26-foot length weighing under 5,700-pounds.

Of course, given the huge amount of sleeping area, the living area is not the most spacious in the industry. Yet, Coleman utilized some clever tweaks to make the most out of the available space. The L-shaped kitchen allows for a surprisingly large work surface, even though the kitchen itself is quite compact. Further, the use of a U-shaped dinette allows for a great deal of flexibility. During meals, the table can be inserted and at least six people can dine comfortably. At other points, the table can be removed, and the dinette functions as a spacious sectional sofa. It’s a great solution for a challenging limitation.

Coleman acknowledges that the point of camping is enjoying nature, and the outdoor kitchen makes this an easy goal. The generous awning and outdoor facilities make it easy to extend your living area into the outside of the unit. If you need to provide space for a lot of people but aren’t looking for a mammoth trailer, the $44,000 MSRP 244BH deserves a serious look.

8. Grand Design Imagine 2400BH

Grand Design has developed a reputation for approachable luxury, and they have quickly become one of the leaders in the industry. Among the Grand Design models, the Imagine is somewhat of a darling child for combining high-quality finishes at an affordable price. The 2400BH represents a subtle twist on a popular layout. With its rear-positioned double-width bunk beds, U-shaped dinette, and front queen-sized bedroom, there is nothing inherently groundbreaking about the initial design. Yet, when you dig in, the details become impressive.

One of the most innovative features is the ability to use the bunk area as a pseudo-toy hauler. There is a large rear baggage door that opens into the bunk area. Not only is this a great secondary entrance, but it allows you to flip up the bunks and use that space for hauling bikes, umbrellas, and any other gear you need to have the best time on the go. It is a simple idea but it makes a huge difference. Further, the 2400BH has a truly impressive outdoor kitchen, including a mini-fridge. Buyers are often forced to choose between bunks and an outdoor kitchen, so we applaud Grand Design for including both here. Lastly, we can’t discuss this trailer without talking about the bathroom. It’s huge. Often, the bathroom area in a bunkhouse trailer feels like an afterthought, but here it feels like a focus. With a truly massive shower, plenty of floor space, and a generous corner-mounted vanity, it’s a great place to be.

This 28-foot unit weighs just under 5,800-pounds, making it easy to tow for most trucks. At $34,000 MSRP, it isn’t the least expensive, but it represents a great value for anyone looking for a small but luxurious bunk unit for a great price. This is a great example of getting the details right.

10. Jayco Jay Feather X23E Hybrid

Hybrid travel trailers are a fascinating concept that frankly should be more popular. A hybrid trailer denotes a travel trailer that has normal harm-sided walls like a travel trailer, but fold-out “tent” beds like a pop-up. This arrangement allows for a huge amount of sleeping space in a compact unit, truly offering the best of both worlds. Among hybrid trailers, it is most common to have a bed at either end of the unit. However, the Jay Feather X23E goes beyond this and adds a third bed to the rear side of the unit. That’s right: this is a 23-foot trailer with three queen beds.

Combined with the massive U-shaped dinette and convertible sofa, this impressive swiss army knife can sleep ten people comfortably, without a single bunk bed in sight.

Because none of the floor space is taken up by beds, this trailer has an incredible amount of living space. The U-shaped dinette is mounted on this slide-out, and provides plenty of seating for even a large family. The kitchen is generous, and the bathroom is quite spacious too. Overall, it is hard to fathom that a trailer this size could offer so much space. If you want the maximum space from a small trailer, give this 5,500-pound $32,000 marvel a look.

Different companies use this construction technique, but the process is generally the same. There is a top mold and a bottom mold, and the trailer is constructed of two solid fiberglass pieces. In essence, this is akin to placing an upside-down boat on top of another boat. Because of the lack of seams and wooden components, this technique makes for some of the strongest trailers possible. Fiberglass trailers are incredibly watertight, strong, and generally well insulated. However, this technique is expensive, and the resulting trailers tend to command a more premium price.

Here are the most intriguing compact dual-axle trailers we’ve run across in the past year. Maybe one will be perfect for your next adventure.

2. Airstream Globetrotter 23FB

It’s hard to spend any length of time discussing high-end compact travel trailers without bringing up Airstream. Ever since Wally Byam founded Airstream in 1931, they have created trailers so unique and high-quality that they truly occupy a different category. Airstreams are built more like aircraft than trailers, with their ribbed aluminum construction and polished exteriors lending them an unmistakable look. Yet, it isn’t just the construction. Rather, the quality and attention to detail are superb. One step into an Airstream and you instantly understand. The cabinets feel more substantial. The doors close with surprising bank-vault authority. The feeling is more “yacht” than “camper.”

Despite this reputation for luxury, Airstream has a distinct focus on building smaller trailers. One of their most storied and celebrated models is the minuscule 16-foot Bambi. However, in this article we’re focusing on Airstream’s dual-axle camper that retain compact dimensions. The flagship among this lineup is the Globetrotter 23FB. This front bedroom layout is cozy but never cramped. By having a large U-shaped dinette instead of a sofa and a dinette, the living area has plenty of seating without being cluttered. Upfront, you’ll find a full-size walkaround queen bed, a rare feature in a sub-25-foot trailer.

Without sugarcoating it, this is not a budget-friendly trailer. It’s just over $108,000. While this may seem like an astronomical amount to pay, you would do so with the knowledge that there isn’t a higher quality unit on the road. This is also a prime area where resale value is worth considering. A quick glance at the used market will tell you how well these trailers retain their value. In fact, many seventy-year-old models are still fetching over $100,000. It’s an investment, but it is a solid one.

The Globetrotter 23FB occupies a fascinating space in the market. It’s compact, easy to tow, and very lightweight. Yet, it manages a level of luxury and quality that many 40-foot coaches struggle to achieve. This trailer isn’t for everyone. But for anyone looking for a compact trailer that won’t settle for anything less than the best, this is the one for you.

3. Genesis RV Vortex 1914V

After spending some time in the clouds with the Airstream Globetrotter, it is time to return to earth with a more approachable option. Toy haulers.

The appeal of a toy hauler is obvious. You can take your family and your powersports equipment and have a comfortable place to spend time. Furthermore, the appeal of a small trailer has been well discussed. Unfortunately, combining these two concepts is not always a great idea. In recent years, many manufacturers have built toy haulers that amount to little more than taking their low-end single-axle trailers and cutting a door into the back. While this makes them affordable, it also makes them dangerous. The weight distribution of a toy hauler is tricky to manage properly, and combining this with the instability of a single axle design is asking for problems. Worse yet, many of these trailers would technically be overloaded with a single ATV inside. There needed to be a high-quality option for compact toy haulers. Enter the Genesis Vortex 1914V.

At under 20-feet, this is among the most compact toy haulers on the market.

However, because of the overbuilt dual axle frame, it has the strength to haul your toys without putting your family at risk. By using two 4,000-pound axles, this trailer has a payload of almost 3,000-pounds. Thus, you run almost no risk of overloading. The layout is built with capacity in mind as well. Given a clever layout that places the bed and bathroom at the very front, the 1914V has an impressive 14.5-foot garage space. It’s tall, too, being one of the highest profile trailers in this category. The additional height allows for a second motorized bed at the rear, a luxury normally reserved for fifth wheels.

Throughout its design, this trailer is built with adventure and boondocking in mind. It is extremely well insulated, allowing off-grid camping to be done comfortably regardless of the season. And perhaps most impressively, this camper can hold 100 gallons of fresh water. This is easily three times the standard amount. This is a trailer built with a purpose in mind. It isn’t particularly luxurious or elaborately decorated.

If your goal is to have the toughest and most well-equipped compact toy hauler for your next adventure, then this is it.

4. Stealth Nomad 18FK

It’s a stripped down trailer that crosses a toy hauler with a travel trailer so it’s incredibly affordable, though not the most comfortable.  [/su_icon_text]

At first glance, you would be forgiven for thinking the Stealth Nomad 18FK is a fairly similar trailer to the Vortex 1914V. To be fair, their target audience may have a lot of overlap. However, the focus is actually quite different. While the Vortex is a camper first and a toy hauler second, the Nomad reverses that equation.

Stealth is primarily a cargo trailer company, and their bread and butter products are small utility trailers. When they decided to enter the camper market with the Nomad, their approach was predictably unique.

Calling the 18FK a camper is perhaps somewhat misleading. Rather, it is more accurate to think of it as a cargo trailer that happens to have a bathroom and a small kitchen. There aren’t any permanent beds, and such niceties as chairs or a TV are conspicuously absent. Yet, for certain users, this is a fantastic option. If you race motorcycles and are looking for a little more comfort at the track, this is a game-changer. If you use your trailer for trade shows or craft fairs and need to maximize space but still want your own facilities, this is ideal. This trailer gets the job done first and focuses on comfort later.

This focus on capacity is clear when you look at the payload. Because this trailer is so light but built with such heavy-duty components, it has a truly impressive 4,000-pound capacity. Further, because you’re only paying for the bare necessities, the cost is quite approachable too at around $24,000. This is a very specific tool, but it is a great fit for the right job.

I believe it is fair to say that this is the most diverse line-up of trailers we’ve ever featured. This was done for a reason. Compact travel trailers are often relegated to the corner of the RV show and considered basic entry-level models with little variety to offer. But as we’ve seen, the small camper market truly has something for everyone.
